Boss’ Pick
The main criteria for choosing a credit card are NOT all equal.
It boils down to interest rate, interest rate on balance transfers and who you’re dealing with… .
You’re probably starting to realise that I do my homework and get to the heart of the matter…
You can be baffled by annual fees, rewards schemes, credit limits, additional cardholders etc. These are bells and whistles. Forget them.
Interest rates the most important consideration, closely followed by interest rate on balance transfers.
You’ll probably have your credit card a while. The interest will be your biggest cost over time. That’s why it needs to be a key part of your decision.
The ANZ card I’ve chosen has a very low interest rate of 12.49% on purchases. It’s not the very lowest I found, but it more than makes up for that slender margin in other ways.
Balance on transfers is the second thing you need to consider.
Most people will close a card account or bring some other debt over – a significant amount right away. So if you can get a low interest rate on that for as long as possible, it’s a big plus.
You can’t get any lower than 0%. That’s what the ANZ low rate mastercard charges you for balance transfers for up to 6 months.
ANZ are the best crowd to deal with. Like most bosses, I’ve been around a while. I’ve banked with all of them. ANZ are the most progressive. They’re the easiest to contact on the phone.
So here it is, straight from the boss’s mouth. The ANZ Low Interest Rate Mastercard…
I’ve been through them all. This one saves you money with a low interest rate on purchases and gives you some breathing space with 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 6 months.
