Traveling? Secure Your Plastics
Traveling can be exciting, relaxing and wonderfully fun. You get to meet lots of interesting people, see sights you’ve only dreamed of and sample unique and tasty local cuisines. That being said, would you allow a lost credit card to ruin your entire vacation? Probably not.
So better secure all your plastics. You don’t want to deal with fraud and frustration when you could be having fun the entire time.
Pick One or Two
There’s no sense hoarding all your plastics. It is impractical in every sense of the word and is a number one blunder for safety. Chances are, when you have a stack of cards in your pocket, you won’t notice one’s gone. You’d think everything’s still there. Bringing a card or two will let you readily notice if one goes missing.
Just choose two of your best credit cards. Secure the other in your room and bring one for when you go out and about. It is better if these two cards have the same hotline, too, in case they get lost. It’ll make reporting the theft easier.
Keep An Eye On It
It’s easy to get lost in the beauty of the view but this is detrimental for your plastics. While you’re in a touristy trance, credit card thieves can easily sneak after your card. So keep an eye on them. Put them in your bag or purse and cling to it at all times. Never leave it on a beach chair or hang it anywhere while you’re busy with your drinks.
In addition, make sure that you keep awareness when you hand your card over to someone. Credit card skammers can get all your private information by merely glancing at the card for a few seconds.
Prefer Credit for Debit
It’s very likely you’d go over budget when you’re out shopping for souvenirs. So you decide on bringing debit cards instead just to avoid hitting your limit. However, debit cards hold little to no protection in case of fraud. Credit cards fare better in this case. As they have a federal law that backs it up and the fine is merely $50. This is measely compared to when you lose all your debit card funds.
So no matter how tempting, stick to your credit cards. Just make sure to keep them safe at all times.
Your vacation should be a leisurely one; free of worries and threats. Don’t let your self forget about credit card safety. Be mindful of its presence and you’ll come home from your travels happy, satisfied and tanned.
